About Barry Walker

Name: Barry Walker

Location:Nashville, Tennessee, United States

I grew up as an MK and then I became a PK. MK is for “military kid,” because my father was in the U. S. Air Force. PK is for “pastor’s kid,” because when I was about 15 years old my father felt God was leading him to become a pastor. My family was so surprised! We all respected my father. We knew he was a good man, but a pastor? Little was I to know then that many years later God would lead me to be a pastor. I have helped new churches begin, first in Tampa, Florida then in Japan. I met Tammy just a year before going to seminary. Tammy grew up in Southern California.

We have been married 22 years, and we have two adopted children. Jonmichal Makoto is seven and Madison Ayumi is five. They are Japanese, and they keep us busy. We adopted them while we lived in Japan from 1995 to 2002. Since August of 2003 we have lived in Nashville. We are grateful to God for many friendships among Japanese here. If you are reading my profile, we hope we can become your friend too!
